The new advise from the Health & Safety Executive regarding the picking of Blackberries states that fluorescent jackets must be worn, along with protective gloves, hard hats and eye protectors.
The directive is particular about picking blackberries only at eye level to avoid straining the back.
Warning signs must be placed 20m before and after the picking area.
Care should also be taken from injuring one’s self from broken beer bottles or other similar debris thrown in the hedgerow.
