Banks Forum
For many years, we lived under the illusion that banks were the pillars of economic wisdom.
As such, we endured contempt and indifferent service, exorbitant fees, for allowing our accounts to “misbehave”. Bank charges relating to penalties may be reclaimed at some time in the future if the financial ombudsman has his way.
All these whilst we watched obscene bonuses being paid to directors, whilst they presided over so many branch closures.
It now transpires that banks , not only they were not the wise institutions we assumed them to be, but to a large extend they were responsible for the financial mess the country is in, through their greed.
The Government has thrown them a financial lifeline, but shouldn’t it apply strict controls to stop the banks misbehaving in the future?
